The National Hurricane Center has issued a tropical storm watch for High Island, TX to Intracoastal City, LA. A tropical storm warning is in effect from Intracoastal City eastward. Potential Tropical Cyclone 3 should become a tropical storm within the next 12 to 24 hours, before it makes landfall late Wednesday or early Thursday on the southwest of south central Louisiana coast. The main hazards associated with this system will be heavy rain, above normal tides, and gusty winds. While most places will see 1 to 3 inches of rain, if a rainband develops and moves across your area, you have the potential to see 5 to 10 inches of rain. This would result in street flooding and possibly water into some homes or businesses. In addition, this rain would have a difficult time draining due to the tides running 1 to 2 feet above normal for the next few days. Minor coastal flooding is expected, especially in downtown Cameron, Pecan Island, Intracoastal City, Delcambre, Cypremort Point, and Burns Point. Sabine Pass in Texas is also vulnerable during high tides. Winds will be gusty, at times in the 40 to 60 mph range, especially Wednesday into early Thursday. Minor structure damage is possible, as well as scattered power outages. The tornado threat is very low at this time, but will be re-evaluated tomorrow and could be upgraded.
